Services Offered

What is Pediatric Physiotherapy?

Pediatric physiotherapy is an area of physiotherapy focused on supporting the physical development, movement, and function of infants, children, and adolescents. It helps children reach important milestones such as sitting, crawling, walking, and feeding by addressing challenges related to muscle strength, coordination, posture, and motor skills.

Gentle care. Lasting impact for your growing little ones.

Lighthouse Physiotherapy now offers paediatric physiotherapy to support babies and young children through key stages of early development. A special focus of my practice is on feeding concerns in infants, helping families navigate challenges with latching, bottle feeding, oral motor coordination, and more.

I also support children who may benefit from early movement intervention and positional care.

Areas of care include:

  • Feeding concerns in infants, including oral motor coordination and latch issues

  • Developmental delays and support with motor milestones

  • Torticollis, plagiocephaly, and brachycephaly (head shape concerns)

  • Balance and coordination challenges

  • Movement-based play to support early functional skills

My approach is gentle, play-based, and centred around your family’s goals. Every session is tailored to your child’s needs, with guidance and collaboration to help you feel confident in their care.

What is Pelvic Health Physiotherapy?

Pelvic health physiotherapy is a branch of physiotherapy focused on addressing issues related to the pelvic region and the core. This area includes the muscles, ligaments, nerves, and organs such as the bladder, uterus, and rectum.

Pelvic health physiotherapists are trained to assess and treat a wide range of conditions that can affect pelvic health, including:

Pelvic Pain/ Hip Pain/ Back Pain/ Coccydynia: Chronic pelvic pain can have various causes, including musculoskeletal dysfunction, nerve irritation, or underlying conditions such as endometriosis or interstitial cystitis.

Pelvic Organ Prolapse: This occurs when the pelvic organs (such as the bladder, uterus, or rectum) descend from their normal position and may bulge into the vaginal canal.

Incontinence: This includes urinary incontinence (leakage of urine) and fecal incontinence (involuntary bowel movements).

Urinary Retention: Difficulty emptying your bladder.

Pre and Postnatal Care: Pregnancy and childbirth can place significant strain on the pelvic floor muscles and may lead to issues such as pelvic girdle pain, diastasis recti (separation of abdominal muscles), painful intercourse, prolapse, urinary incontinence, etc.

Constipation: Poor stool consistency, combined with dissynergia of the pelvic floor muscles/anal sphincters can lead to stools that are painful and hard to pass.

Post abdominal or pelvic surgery: Pain, tension and scar tissue post- op can lead to pelvic floor/core dysfunction.

Peri-menopause or Menopause: Hormonal shifts as we age may lead to pelvic floor changes such as atrophy, dryness, and pain.
